Four Points By Sheraton Sydney, Central Park Review

Hotels, Sydney / Thursday, February 21st, 2019

Address: 88 Broadway, Chippendale NSW 2008, Australia

We stayed at Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park in Feb 2019. The hotel was quite far from the city centre. Be prepared to walk if you do hang out at Pitt Street Mall or QVB Building area a fair bit. The nearest train station is the Central Railway Station which was about 10mins away.

Accommodation

Accommodation wise, it was within expectations. The decor was simple and rooms range from about 28sqm. The hotel did not have firm pillows, which could be an issue for some. The pulling rod was detached from the night curtain. We reported it on the first day upon check in and also requested for dental and shaving kits. We returned after several hours and nothing was fixed. The amenities came after a few calls to housekeeping. The curtain was fixed only after several days and the staff explained later that the maintenance team does not operate on weekends. Really? Housekeeping was poor and some issues remain even after repeated feedback to the front desk.

Table

There are some issues with the bathroom, the shower area does not have a door and the gap below the bathroom door was large so it could be quite cold when showering. The water temperature was not stable too. The breakfast spread was limited, but probably in line with a 4* property. There was no food item that had us looking forward to. The staff at the breakfast were very eager to clear plates, we have seen our plates and those of others cleared when we left our tables to get more food.

Bathroom

The general service was average and not particularly warm. We deposited some luggage upon checkout and they brought some wrong items out, arguably a very worrisome point. The only exception was a commendable incident which deserves another blog post of its own.

On the whole, the main gripe is with the service. The location is not ideal although there was a Kensington Street (food street) near the hotel which looks promising. We had nice dinners at an Italian restaurant there. Room rates seems to be at a premium. Mercure Hotel is a few doors away. I doubt the experience there can be much worse.
